Miklós Bónis has been an Investment Director at PortfoLion since 2018.
Born and raised in Romania, Miklós graduated from Cluj-Napoca University with a degree in economics. He turned towards investment and the banking sector. He used his time with SanPaolo IMI Group and KBC Group to learn the ins and outs of investment banking through a series of M&A transactions with regional and global players.
Miklós joined PortfoLion in November 2018 and has been focusing his efforts on the Green Fund ever since. He believes in building trust towards corporate investors in the segment through transparency and professionalism.
He spends his free time with his family and close to nature. He is joined on hikes, bicycle rides, and trips to Transylvania by his four children and wife.
A long time ago in Hungarian agriculture, it was unfortunately common to meet investors trying to take advantage of the financially less aware business owners. Therefore, as investors we often encountered precautious mistrust in the initial phase of our negotiations. Today, after corporate investment teams like we, at the Green Fund appeared on the market and the financial awareness of the business owners has evolved significantly, we can see the market transforming. During our negotiations in Nemesszalók and Nádudvar, we felt mutually settled after a detailed discussion on how we wanted to fulfil the transaction in a transparent and professional manner, so that we approach minority shareholders in the same way as we handle the majority owners.
